It was difficult to hold down the nausea as Sir Trevor and Roy conducted their public love in at the press conference and there is a dreadful fear of what could have been  with a swash buckling England led by Redknapp. Regardless, what is done is done and at the end of the day Hodgson won’t be playing when the eleven men of England take the field on 11^th June against France in Donetsk .

Brooking may be looking forward to “working with Roy ” but hopefully West Hams biggest powder puff tackler of all time will be busy at a committee as Rooney and company take on the continents finest footballers. For England leadership will have to come from the pitch and perhaps that is the best thing of all.
